In another thread, alas.

Not sure how or why, but after leaving my tablet for about three hours in the standby mode, I fired up the Tear browser to look up something last night, and for grins, I clicked the advanced backlighting icon, and voila, the screen rotation icons were there. I think the tablet gods decided that I'd tried hard enough, so they just made it happen.

I've noticed a difference in the two sets of instructions... (between the wiki and the sse2.net versions)

on the sse2.net version, the instruction calls for

apt-get install advanced-backlight

but, on the wiki version, it calls for

apt-get install advanced-backlight osso-software-version-rx44-unlocked

could be the problem? (i did the sse2.net instructions)

I'm just going to uninstall advbklight and redo it with the wiki instructions.

I think my instructions were ultimately successful for sean-o.

Note: the only reason I uploaded the files to my google account was that the sse2 files were gone temporarily. But the files should still work whether they come from there or from my googlepages account.

now i did it :-/

i uninstalled advbklight , tried reinstalling it with the wiki instructions, got this

Root shell enabled

BusyBox v1.6.1 (2008-09-18 09:43:17 EEST) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/home/user # apt-get install advanced-backlight osso-software-version-rx44-unlocked
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
osso-software-version-rx44: Depends: kernel-diablo-flasher (= 2.6.21-200842maemo1) but 2.6.21-200842maemo1rotationfast is to be installed
Depends: xserver-xomap (= 1:1.3.99.0~git20070321-0osso20083801) but 1:1.3.99.0~git20070321-0osso20083801rotation is to be installed
Conflicts: osso-software-version-variant
osso-software-version-rx44-unlocked: Conflicts: osso-software-version-variant
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

and now advbklight wont install

well, we're getting beyond my expertise here. try closing xterm, enabling extras-devel via app manager, closing app manager, and then gaining root in xterm and then trying to install osso-software-version.

Also, google: "apt-get -f install" site:talk.maemo.org to make sure that wiser people than I say it's OK to try that as a solution to the apparent problem you are having.

One click install:

If you're running Diablo, click this.
If you're running Chinook, click this.

After reboot just remember disabling the Extra Dev from the catalog (App Mgr)

All came from here and don't need to read too much into it.
