Is it possible to compile a .deb file from a python source on a windows machine?

Sounds like you are looking for madde.
Or you can go with a VM.
Then you need to install the pymaemo packages, develop something and make a deb.

Is it easier to compile directly on N900 though?

Sorry for my questions, I just started pythoning, was a user of N900 for years now but it's time for me to give something to community

I don't know it is possible but never did it, I like to develop on a desktop system in both cases you need to read, install and configure so the work will nearly the same.

I don't know nuffin' about no Python but otherwise I do virtually all my development on the device itself. Source editing, compiling, packaging, submitting to builder... The only thing I sometimes delegate to the "big PC" is the graphics layout in Qt Creator.

I don't see why a similar thing should not be possible for "pythoning".
