I kinda elaborated on that yesterday in here. We don't *need* (much) more funds for now, particularly once we reached the 25k goal. What we will strive for after reaching 25k phase-III project goal are a number of 1000+ donors that demonstrate their willingness to buy a device once those will be available - by donating 100+EUR which makes for a rebate we believe those donors will want to claim as soon as possible.
This number of 1000 rather certain "preorders" is something that enables us to negotiate on a whole new level with our component suppliers and the fab.

cheers

In layman's terms - yes, we don't need more, but I'm sure everyone who wants to buy Neo900 wants more, as it may allow us to significantly drop the prices

And what I'm suggesting is that we already took care of that

two completely made up stories to illustrate a few things:

Story #1
100 donors gave 250EUR each. We use 5000EUR of that for some early mech protos. Then we go
"Hallo MURATA, we need 100 special custom-made connectors to plug that display flex cable in."
MURATA answers "No way, sorry"
We have to cancel the project due to this and we will pay back 250EUR<donated_amount>*((25000-5000)/25000) = 200EUR (minus handling fees) to our donors

Story #2
1000 donors gave 100EUR each. We use 5000EUR of that for some early mech protos. Then we go
"Hallo MURATA, we need THOUSAND special custom-made connectors to plug that display flex cable in."
MURATA answers "Umm, OK. That's feasible"
We DON'T have to cancel the project due to this and we will NOT have to pay back 100EUR<donated_amount>*((100000-5000)/100000) = 95EUR (minus handling fees) to our donors.
However if we had to then obviously the "loss" for each donor is way smaller than in story one. To compare: for a 250EUR the refund would be 250*0.95=237.50 and thus the "loss" only 12.50EUR instead of 50EUR - that's the smaller individual risk.
The answer from MURATA for 1000 items (vs. 100) represents the lower project risk.

And of course we will get components for a more competitive price when we buy 1000 instead of 200.

cheers

Yesterday he said that he's going to answer few mails about "unsupported countries" today, so expect a mail any time soon

Nikolaus is understandably busy ATM, he'll get around to answer your mail and help you to place your donation today.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
cheers

Heh, hopefully you will update the list of countries-donations soon. My payment was recently received; I am the third person in my country to send a donation, and it seems that both of them sent the same amount I did. Hopefully, the currently-difficult-to-reach countries will increase the count of pre-orders.
By the way, is anybody going to pre-order two Neo900? I would seriously consider this, if I wasn't so limited by reality. Maybe, I will persuade a friend to get one for himself, just to keep me company...
Best wishes. Thank you.
