I have been working feverishly to use the main Groovshark site (http://listen.grooveshark.com/) on my n800, but have had little success. My attempts to use it in a browser end in nonresponsive windows and although I was able to get the Groove application working (http://maemo.org/packages/view/groove/), it's still a work in progress (it doesn't save or load playlists...). The closest I've gotten was using the awesome FlashLauncher application, but I had to define the main SWF file that doesn't appear to be able to connect to the actual music on its own (plus, I only got it to load once). So this leads me to wonder:

1. Can anyone run Grooveshark successfully on their n8x0? If so, how?

2. Any recommendations for getting this to work? Expanding memory or some application I've yet to come across?

I should add that I've tried to like last.fm through Vagalume, but it just doesn't quite do it for me. Also an excellent program, for the record.

Don't work for me.

I have been able to install the two pakages, after a nightmare of libqt4 dependencies.

But once installed the program don't do anything. I can search for songs but once showed any button work.

I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

I got that up and working too, but it doesn't do playlists and tends to crash after listening to a handful of songs. So what works does indeed work well, but it's primitive in comparison to what you get at listen.grooveshark.com.

Straycat: You search for songs, add to the playlist with the "+" button, then click on the play button to start it. You just can't see the playlist or the progress of your songs, which makes it a little tough to use. I thought it was completely inoperable when I got it working, but it's just still in development.

My most recent near-success is using snx to connect to my home computer remotely (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=60760), though audio doesn't get passed through to my tablet and I don't see a clear way to accomplish that. I'll try some more and see what I can figure out.

I also came across a pretty nifty python application called GrooveWalrus (http://groove-walrus.turnip-town.net/dru/) though I haven't mustered up the courage to try installing that quite yet. The author says it runs on Ubuntu, but some of the dependencies don't look Maemo-friendly. But I'm still just getting into this, really...

Interesting timing... Grooveshark updated their interface within the last day or two and it seems more lightweight. I'm able to load the site fine in MicroB and Midori, but only Fennec is actually able to load a playlist (logins don't seem to work). I'm not actually able to play a song yet, but it's excruciatingly close...

So... close...

Turns out the update was to make Grooveshark based on HTML5 instead of Flash (it still uses flash, just not nearly as much of it). The scripts run more smoothly than the flash did, so I'm able to load the page and even search for files easily in MicroB. However, the song names do not appear, and adding a song to the playlist does not work (I'm assuming MicroB is not very HTML5 capable). But at least it doesn't freeze any more!

I'll be trying out several different browsers since the site is still a work in progress. Maybe even reflash my tablet just to get rid of all the fluff I've installed recently and see if that makes any difference.

Any other n8x0 users that care to try this out and see what happens? It may be wishful thinking, but I would love to get this working one way or another if possible.

my method was:
(as root) (and in the directory where deb's are at)
dpkg -i libqjson_0.7.1-3_armel.deb
apt-get -f upgrade (this should cause the library to install)
dpkg -i groove_0.4-10_armel.deb
apt-get -f upgrade (this should cause groove to finally install...although in my case dependencies caused another 10 meg of junk to be installed)
Groove now loads and is responsive....yet there is no way to do anything but search for songs....which yields no results.
can not bring up any menu or find any way to change any settings.
