I no longer own an n900, but i really miss maemo.

Thinking of getting an N810 to play with, but have a few Q's:

Does it have an apps repo like the N900?

How many apps does it have?

What kinda emulators can it run?

Thanks

You've owned an N900 and have 274 posts here and you have to ask those questions? Answer them yourself! The N810 is lots of fun. It doesn't make phone calls, though.

Yes. You'll see that the N810 is supported here generally the same way as the N900.

Many of us on this forum are quite content with our N810 and N800's. There is only two things that my N800 cannot do. No Skype with video and I cannot watch NetFlix movies. Other than that, there are apps for just about anything that is needed. Many of the apps that you had on your N900 were originally N800 apps. Just like your N900 there is an app manager that downloads from repositories. Be more specific with your questions.

Oh thats awesome, plus the N810 is cheaper than the n900, and i must say its quite nice looking.

Does the display support pressure sensing for apps like MyPaint?

Has fennec been ported to it like on the N900?

Oh and hows the browser performance for flash and the likes?

Sorry for all the questions

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks for the info, ive gone a bit rusty on the maemo world since my n900 died and was replaced with an N8, which in all fairness is a better phone but id rather have the N900 if it was jsut a bit more reliable.

So i think the n810 is right for me, thanks for all the help!

As you can see from my sig I have the full set. I sometimes reach for the N810 in the house as the larger screen and keyboard make it easier on the eye. It's great for ebooks especially, and xterm work. Also looks classier than the N900

The N800/810 is slower than the N900 obviously - Don't plan on running too many apps simultaneously.

The screen is not as silky sensitive as the N900, and the OS is less finger friendly, and the touch needs to be more precise. I find that it's fine with the stylus though, and much better for me than with a finger.

The OS has some stuff which is better than maemo5 though. Auto-away on the IM presence is one.
Microb works better for me on some websites (my transmission daemon web being one). I dont' use firefox as it uses too much cpu/ram and disk space to install.

Install the CSSU, Telescope, Diablo5 theme, and then Maccruz' Diabloturbo debs and you will find that the device is class though.

The default N810 version of Maemo is quite different from the Maemo you're used to, I think you should know that.

One of the advantages of the N810 is that it's better suited for being an ebook reader, though. Bigger screen, and with the advanced backlight applet, you can dim it further down than the N900.
