my issue is just that my phone boots normaly but when it s time to load my desktop it reboots.
I ve put it in R&D mode with no-life-guard flag.. but I don't think it is a very good long term solution

So is there a way to restore modest before the modification to see if it is the source of my problem?

Modest isn't really needed at boot up, some people have it uninstalled, so it can't be the source of your problem.
Anyways, rm /etc/apt/preferences and apt-get upgrade should restore modest (and remove any other backports)

quick bug report.
in portrait mode, menu to go to next or previous mail have weird titles

it reads

qgntoolgeneback
qgntoolgeneforward

Yeah, that's a localization problem afaik (po/mo files missing strings), timeless knows a fix for it, I'll ask him about it.

i tried rebooting 2 times and it still won't go to portrait mode automatically. i still had to do the ctrl+shift+r thing.

did all commands in post 1, rebooted. nothing happens. anyway to verify instalation?

this is for normal email app yes?

Does this new package installed ontop of the original one? Can it be easily revert back to stock Modest?

This would make it easier for newbies as well. Thanks

Menu

Yeah, rm /etc/apt/preferences
apt-get upgrade
