Yea, I'm not sure if we should take pity on them, yet, for the sake of good will

BTW - just for clarification - what about people that updated to broekn version, yet haven't restarted device since, then, fixed it manually, then updated to fixed CSSU? Is the:
Code:
dsmetool -b
...necessary? Common sense and my (very limited) knowledge tells me that it isn't, but would like to be 100% sure

I was exactly in same situation (updated to broken version, yet haven't restarted device since, then, fixed it manually, then updated to fixed CSSU). Since I have little knowledge about this i followed all those steps

Reinstall ke-recv as root:
Code:
apt-get install --reinstall ke-recv

It is not easy and maybe not possible. Read maemo-ssu IRC log from yesterday.

ke-recv will be updated after next reboot. New version of ke-recv has support for mounting more SD card partitions and support for different filesystem (of cource if kernel drivers are in system). Also support for automounting usb hdd in host mode.

So for proper updating is reboot required.

update system and then reinstall ke-recv

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install --reinstall ke-recv
This should work. If not write output of: dpkg -l ke-recv
