Another thing that might be worth trying is to run 600MHz at OPP3 instead of OPP5. It might be out of spec, but Pandora people report that it is stable and it might save some battery if your processor spends a lot of time at this frequency.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

"flasher --local -f -k <path-for-kernel_zimage_file>" [enter]

"reboot" [enter]

If somebody is "smart" enough to flash a kernel, I believe they should understand the breakability of their actions. I don't see why files can't be posted - compiled kernel and modified headers and conf files, included.
7 slot would be nice, 125MHz to 800MHz.

when i try to flash my kernel i use the command
$ flasher-3.5 -k <kernelimage> -f -R
in maemo flasher to try this out it says access denied
i have the files that i need placed in maemo flasher folder on pc
anyone got any idears please

I still do not get people's concern's (aside from the battery issue). The Droid is rock solid at 800mhz and was also fine at 1ghz (both set with min scale of 250mhz). 600mhz is nowhere near the ceiling of the 3430, but 1.2ghz does seem to be pushing it (temps increase 10 degrees and some freeze ups). Seems the sweet spot for the 3430 is a max of about 800 to 900 mhz.
Then again, the Droid on 3G lasts longer when clocked to 800mhz than the N900 does when in 2G and 600mhz. Yes, apples to oranges, but still seems like the N900 is not as efficient as it should be (pulse audio factor?).

It would be cool to have profiles: Browsing and media lower clock and for games (such as MAME and PSX4ALL) a profile to 800mhz.
There are very stable low volt kernels for Droid that clock up to 1.2ghz and have dynamic profiles in an app called SetCPU. Most testing suggests the best range for the 3430 is scaling up to 800 to 900 mhz. When you go past 1ghz, temps begin climbing and freezes start.

Could never never go back to 600mhz. Might as well prepare for the worst.
