Can't charge my phone with original Nokia charger, also i tried my wife's blackberry charger, same problem-I can't charge. BUT it charging with Nokia car charger and Nokia USB cable that come with the phone. Does anybody have the same issue? I still have 2 weeks before my warranty expire. Is it phone or charger issue?

I was having a similar problem and after sending it in to the Nokia repair centre, thinking that my loose usb was the problem, had them sending it back to me after just upgrading the software to PR 1.3 and reflashing.

I got it back today and it is charging like a charm, the usb port is still loose, but it is charging straight away.

So, maybe try reflashing?

I had same trouble - wall charger stopped charging, but usb still worked. But after a few weeks I had to start jiggling the usb connector in the socket to get it to charge so I knew it was the N900 hardware and not the wall charger - took it to repair centre and recieved a replacemnt under warranty.

EDIT: The wall charger works with the replacement unit fine.

If the car charger works then I would say it is most likely your wall charger that is at fault.

When charging from a dumb charger the N900 expects the data pins to be shorted (i.e. connected together), not all USB chargers do this, if the Blackberry charger doesn't do that, it would explain why it doesn't work for your N900. Maybe try charging your wife's Blackberry from your N900 charger, if it does charge then you can rule out it being a problem with the charger.

If the wall charger is charging another device not the N900 then it sounds like you have a hardware problem with the N900. Even though its tempting to get by with the usb charging you could end up being unable to charge at all. As its still under warranty I would get it seen to now before its too late.

That is the first symptom of the dreaded loose usb port issue. Send it back to Nokia asap for replacement before you lose your warranty. It will continue to charge from pc for about 1 week then you will find you need to fiddle with it for pc to start charging. Then after another week you will find it will stop charging or connecting to pc completely.

Open X-Terminal and type:
Code:
lshal -m
After that connect your wall charger to your N900, wait for 30 seconds and copy paste the monitoring output to here.
