It seems there are tons of applications for n900. Anyone tried it? I am currently in office with zero signal on my phone so cannot check out.

Wondered about this myself. Was going to install opera to check it out.

I tried it, the Google Mobile (Java) was in .JAD-format. What file is that? I also tried to download Opera Mini but it didn't even give me a link to download it. I'm suspecting that it's not working for Maemo, the N900 most likely is there by mistake?

I tried it to dowload a couple of them using Opera Mobile and it tries to download Jad files.
We probably need to install Iced Tea to get them to work.

...I just realized how stupid that sounded. That is the Java-version of it, so it's in Java. Hmm. Maybe with IcedTea? I seriously know nothing about Java and whether or not these applications would work with aforementioned application.

Anyone willing to test and report? I'm not that interested in it.

You can run java midlets inc Opera Mini 5 with Microemulator 3 and the new java jre for arm-linux from oracle. Both are not in the repos but can be easily found. Microemu2+icedtea from the repos are vastly outdated and less compatible/capable.
I use it for local transport timetable app.

Isn't .jad for Java ME apps, they need Java ME to run, and Java ME required a license I think, or a pure java emulator of ME. I don't think either exist for maemo, so Iced Tea, which is Java SE, I don't think would do the trick.

My guess is that n900 is listed because they just listed all Nokia phones, because Symbian does do JavaME
