The only change since xmimd 1.0 is an attempt to fix the issue with N9 and PR1.3. Until Nokia ships the PR1.3 sources to me, I am not exactly sure what changed between PR1.2 and PR1.3.
So I had to partially guess, and this means that this release may not work for you, at all. Either way, I hope you can find a moment to test it!

Thanks rcolistete btw, the strace was useful enough that I was able to pinpoint the issue at first glance .
Wow !!! It works on my N9 with PR1.3. All MeeGo vkb, including swype, the ones with arrows, etc.

Fantastic, Javispedro ! Thanks 10^10 !

I will update today a v1.0.3 of Easy Debian package for Harmattan, but avoid to include xmimd_1.1 as minimum dependency. Before, I will ask PR1.2 users if xmimd 1.1 works for them.

In my case, it doesn't work.. xmimd starts, but there is no output whatsoever.. and when I run xephwm-id from the chroot, the vkb doesn't show up when I focus on a text field
Edit: Running PR 1.3 openmode

Are you using the easy-deb-chroot 1.0.3 package for Harmattan ? Or manual installation of scripts ?

Javispedro, do you know why for some users the MeeGo system language should be set to English to vkb work in LXDE ? See the other topic.

The locales have to exactly match both inside the chroot and outside of it. Run "locale" on both outside the chroot (where xmimd is run) and inside it to compare.

I have some issues using a N9 with open mode kernel, so any advice from more experienced users is welcome.

In a alpha version of "easy-deb-chroot-openmode.deb" :
a) using "devel-su -c" or "sudo" in "Exec" lines of .desktop files needs password entry before running any application. Is there any way without password confirmation ? With Inception, opensh was the solution;
(EDIT) The issues below are problably due to calling xephwm (as root) inside Debian, so they are solved :
b) "debian suxephwm" doesn't work ("initgroups: Operation not permitted" error), only "debian xephwm";
c) "debian su user - <application>" gives the same error, "initgroups: Operation not permitted".

Solutions for issue (a) :
- opensh (from open mode kernel PR1.1 or Inception 1.0/1.1 project, they have the same size, package info and seem to be the same);
- echo rootme | devel-su -c "command" (but it only works for the default root password).

So, I am releasing an experimental easy-deb-chroot-openmode_1.1.1.deb which depends on opensh, xmimd and easy-chroot.

If anybody has other solution than opensh to use inside .desktop files, feel free to share here.

i have an idea, but i don't know if it will work on harmattan, and if it's a 'clean solution'
i have never used 'sudo' on harmattan (for me, devel-su -c is the way to go), but i suppose that it's the same that i have on my desktop. if it's, then adding something like
Code:
 username ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
in /etc/sudoers would do the trick (execute something as root without being prompted for a password)
obviously /etc/sudoers should be edited with 'visudo'

also, great work for this easy debian package, and javispedro did a good job too with that keyboard!
