Mine is RX51-2101

/home/user # cat /proc/cpuinfo
Processor : ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)
BogoMIPS : 499.92
Features : swp half fastmult vfp edsp neon vfpv3
CPU implementer : 0x41
CPU architecture: 7
CPU variant : 0x1
CPU part : 0xc08
CPU revision : 3

Hardware : Nokia RX-51 board
Revision : 2101
Serial : 0000000000000000
/home/user #

I got it from Nokia retail in the uk which part of nokia group, they sell nokias to any network, phone was not locked to network, and now i use the global firmware.

with regards to hardware faults:
-usb connector is lately started to playup in a few ocasions e.g. plug in the power supply but might not charge up
-keyboard is perfect
-slider is fine
-i do have a tiny minute scratch in the touch screen which i cannot see but can feel when using the stylus, i have try to clean it but has not gone way
-also i think the memory card slot may be about to go... had dificulty putting in the card last time
-i also feel the camera is not working anything as closely as my old n95 did(same camera on both phones), someone once reported this was due to the mettalic frame around the camera, as pictures without back cover were better quality

Rock solid so far. I mean, it does let the screen rotate a tiny bit if i force it to stay midway between closed and open, but it snaps quite strongly towards each extreme and once there i can hardly tell it is supposed to move at all, but other than the magnets (or is it some complex/clever springs system?) i fell no resistance to closing nor oppening.

I imagine i might notice some difference if i feel the slide in a N900 fresh out of the box, but without having such a comparison it feels pretty much like it never changed from the time i got it to now.

@Windows7

That's weird. Mine is rev 2204 (German variant, bought a month ago from amazon.de), and according to cpuinfo I have BogoMIPS 249.96 (you have 499.92), and my CPU supports the "thumb" and "thumbee" features, which yours doesn't.

Other than that, rock solid (only played with overclocking for a few minutes, don't think I need it..).

USB port looks good, but after reading about the problem I try to handle it with extreme care (and charge the battery every 3/4 days anyway).

That's odd. I have a Board Rev. 2101/CPU rev 3, BogoMIPS 249.96, with SWP HALF THUMB FASTMULT VFP EDSP THUMBEE NON VFPV3 features.

Purchased in the Philippines, running global firmware (used to run UK variant firmware until I reflashed, following an accidental rm -rf /)

My first N900 had a broken microphone

Got my 2nd from Nokia UK 12/2009 it's a 2101

No issues. I'm very careful with the USB though.

Loving community SSU btw

The n900 has different HW as soon as it gets unboxed, pocketted, slided open, typed on, plugged and unplugged M-usb, dropped and scratched. I perdonally doubt that there are different versions, perhaps they adjusted the machines to give make 1 solding part more solid, though that is debatable as well..

Indeed don't get me started on the software part, if you read TMO once a while you can suggest there are millions of versions, you know what I mean.

blipnl: Who knows? After the hackerbox Nokia pulled (OMG DRY ICE!!!!111111!!one), it's possible that a urandom chip is embedded inside the N900 that magically (more magically than iProducts, if i do say so myself) creates the hardware from magic glowing blue dust to determine your max overclock, lowest voltage, screen bright spots, weakness of the USB connection, strength of the glue on the magnets.

P.S.: Spot on signature, it's the biggest thing I've ever carried in my pocket. I had to replace the pockets in my jeans to get it to fit comfortably.
