Sign of the times, my friend. Many applications do that nowadays, not only famous operating systems. The purported argument is that a detailed error description is not helpful to Aunt Tilly, who will not know what to do with them and may even get scared away by the technical details. And there may even be a point to that argument - just read the first comment to this Jolla update.

So software producers in general and Windows in particular have moved from providing a full stack and registers dump to a vague "something happened" message. Something like "something happened, click here for details" has apparently not occurred to them.

All those "share" with Microsoft stuff, can be disable?

Like not sharing anything and then not get the auto enable the sharing (by the pc or Microsoft or whatever).

Greetings.

No, not all. In fact, there's even more - Cortana settings want access to your SMS messages. It will go into a loop if you say no. Luckily, I do not have a Windows Phone, so it can't listen to those... yet.

I'm sure I've only scratched the surface.

There's also the sharing of Wi-Fi passwords to other Skype users in your contact list read more here and heck... who knows what else.

In some cases, not sharing or enabling Microsoft to snoop is just plain greyed out.

I don't have any sharing options enabled at all...
Using Windows 10 Pro

(I've disabled everything... I also didn't enabled a Microsoft account, just a local account)
Works pretty well over here!
