Just to help you with poll,

Considering N900 was released a year ago (2009), We have to accept a fact that we got some beast machines like N8, Iphone 4, etc.. have been released after that.
That doesn't make N900 not a beast. We have Open OS, and they don't.

Regardless of which company , considering cool aesthetics and openness of Maemo , Smoothness and customer centric of Iphone 4 OS , (Unutilised) power under the hood N8 , and other cool features of other mighty machines .. Cast your vote!
Are you still with N900 just because you are tied up with a contract?

No. I bought mine used, with no contract, and I -still- haven't seen anything that even comes -close- to what the n900 offers.

Posted from my n900.

No. I got my N900 non-sim-locked, brand-new, and I still use it daily. Going to go for something else when I find something good enough, but nothing on the market at the moment is worth switching over to. The only complaints I have about my N900 is the lack of quality software, and I wish it'd have larger screen.

EDIT: As a clarification, I'd quite want a tablet-PC with sort-of-phone-capabilities tacked on it instead of a phone with sort-of-tablet-pc-capabilities, with REALLY large screen.

Nope, no contract. (although the e72 in the draw is)
Bought it outright in January.
Thinking about buying another one in case this one dies. I can see myself using this device for another year at least!

A really large screen as you said, (not the thickness but the seuface area of the screen plane) Do you think it would be a okay if its something more than N900 already has..

I personally think the screen plane area is just fine as a phone and a PC (Microb) , but Screen quality (Retina screen, AMOLED, 3D Screens from Sharp) and resolutions it covers should be increased with new tech.

I disagree. While some of the advertising was, I'll admit, not aimed entirely correctly, the n900 is a nerd phone/tablet, and should be thought of that way.
If you managed to get suckered in without knowing what you were getting, I suggest either upgrading immediately and selling your n900 to one of us, or sucking it up and learning to love linux.

edit:
Screen quality... It's already high enough DPI wise - It's only fault is having a 16-bit screen, and that's not a big deal: almost all LCDs for desktops are actually 16-18 bit screens.

I would like a 5" model with a 1024x600 or 800 screen, though.

I wouldn't have said it if I didn't, now would I? I would have said if I just wanted higher resolution, but no, I want larger physical screen either with the same resolution or higher.

I never said I cannot use Linux, or I havn't researched before buying N900 nor I am going to upgrade ( Nothing is there in the market to compare with its degree of usage in my daily life)

And cannot agree with you that N900 is still wanted (as a new device in PAYG or contract) by majority of the forum users here..

And who in this world of daily Mobile users, Who would want to upgrade to a good and a shiny show off phone ( Majority of mobile users upgrade not for practical productivity) would think of researching forums but not get sucked in by shiny ads ?(N900 had the rocking video ad during its release).
