Played with the community version for the first time 'in anger' (ie, outside with actual stars visible) and it was great to find my way around the, unfamiliar for me, northern sky.

Just bought the mobile version (I really hope the proceeds actually go to the authors!) and while I do think some of the mobile changes are good for the N900, (the accelerometer and GPS integration, some of the GUI changes), the cut-down feature set definitely isn't. No night-view mode? No Help menu? Lots of other configurability/control functions missing.

Would be great if there was a merged version with a switchable GUI between 'finger' and 'full/classic'. Having to use the stylus from time to time is NOT a problem, imho. I fail to see why every app is trying to shoe-horn itself into finger-friendly usage only. Sure, have the most used features finger-usable, but don't cut down on the full feature set!

Anyway, all up an awesome app (kudos to all the contributors) and I hope the N900 version continues to be developed further.

Fabien seems to be a bit disappointed with some of Nokia's management decisions, so that's not sure.

Are there any news about Stellarium Mobile? Sources should be available due to GPL licence.

Besides the original Stellarium application has received a lot of updates (apart from the extra features that the mobile version lacks) and there is also a port for Harmattan.

Is there anyone willing to update this application?

Some minor updates:

updated to version 0.10.6
smaller font
clear selection by tapping the infotext
zoom with volume keys
split package into stellarium and stellarium-data
added stellarium-mobile UI from http://stellarium-mobile.org/

you can install stellarium-data and stellarium, the UI from the
desktop version or
stellarium-data and stellarium-mobile for the mobile UI
or both:

Thanks Nicolai. Wonderfull work. Again!

One question I have. Is it just the UI of the mobile version or the complete mobile version that, IIRC, has some differences in functionality?

@nicolai - I bought stellarium-mobile from ovi some time ago, so I have that package already installed. The one in extras-devel is called stellarium-mobile too. If I get it right, if i install your package, it will overwrite the one from OVI. Is that correct? What could go wrong if I choose to install the one in extras-devel, is it supposed to be a replacement of the paid one?

Oh. My fault. I thought the ovi stellarium mobile uses a different name.
My stellarium-mobile uses the source code from http://stellarium-mobile.org.
From the description on this website I would expect it is the same, so
my replacement should be the same as the paid one.
If stellarium-mobile is still available at ovi store,
I'll buy it and I try to check this.

Can you download the extras-devel package and compare the install directory
with the one from ovi store?
