Foreca widget is not updating the current weather anymore since Oct 2 here. It only updates the forecasts. I tried several big cities to make sure it isnt just my nearest station thats stuck. Any idea how to fix that?

Seems I got it fixed by
rm -f /home/user/.config/foreca-weather-applet/*.cfg
and restarting the widget.
Hope it keeps updating now.

Hi,

There was a temporary caching issue with observations, which is now fixed. So no need to remove/reinstall the application.

Could anyone please care to indicate how exactly to restart it? I tried killing everything with foreca in the name that ps -aux spewed out to no avail. Running /usr/share/foreca-weather/foreca-weather with (or without) any parameter just brings up the main app. And it does not have anything in /etc/init.d that I could start/stop.

Basically the problem is that from time to time, the widget stops updating. The main application still works and brings up an up-to-date forecast, but back to the desktop and the widget still shows old data. Reboot kicks it back to life but that seems like an overkill.

(Sorry to revive an old thread, I hope it's better than creating a new one. And please, no "use app X instead". I've tried them all and prefer Foreca's simplicity, friendly UI and small size.)

Thanks for that. Anything simpler? In my case, it means:

1. Go to Settings -> CSSU Tuner
2. Enable home screen editing
3. Remove the widget
4. Re-add the widget
5. Disable home screen editing
6. Close CSSU Tuner and Settings

Most of the time, a reboot is less work

Simpler way:
In "/home/user/.config/hildon-desktop/home.plugins"
1. Cut [foreca-weather-applet.desktop-0] - save
2. Paste [foreca-weather-applet.desktop-0] - save

That works brilliantly. And I learned a new thing about Hildon today. The day has already been useful

The widget current condition data will only update when the phone is awake so it will not drain the battery.
If you notice the widget not updating do the following steps:
1. Starting from the screen where the widget lives
2. Turn off the phone’s screen
3. Turn on the phone’s screen

Seems like service just reached end-of-life. It's been weeks it stopped working. I tried everything but at most I get a "connection failure" message when I tap the widget.

That has not been my observation. Works fine here.
