Just wondering if anyone's had a similar experience to this:

I replaced the housing on my black 16GB N9 (Cyan, thankyouverymuch) and everything was going great. On day two, I noticed that the screen was sometimes non-responsive when waking up (and being taken out of my pocket). A "gentle" torque of the phone would do the trick. Over the next couple days, this got worse, to the point where I'm at now, where the screen is completely unresponsive no matter what.

I opened the phone back up, to see if I possibly over-tightened something (I remember the disassembly video I watched said to make screws "finger tight"). But double-checking those didn't do it.

I then noticed that the wider of the two ribbon cables connecting the screen to the rest of the phone had a pretty significant bend, enough that it was discolored.

I apologize that I don't have any pictures for you, my replacement (old Nokia 6300) is not really a master at taking macro pictures...

I would re-seat the ribbon cables from screen to phone, possibly using something (compressed air, or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol?) to make sure all the contacts are clean and dust-free. See if that helps.
If you've damaged a cable somehow I'm not sure how you'd go about repairing it though.

Before I get much father in this, what do each of the cables/contacts connecting the screen and phone do?
  1. The only one I'm sure of is the narrow ribbon cable, which is for the proximity sensor
  2. Does the wider ribbon cable carry both display data for the screen and touch data?
  3. What are the 8 (or so) contacts on the underside of the screen for?
