EDIT...Am i playing cat and mouse with BBC?
Below is the current working method (April 2010) ;-)

Right-ho lads and lasses, since the BBC have changed the Wii version to no longer allow low bandwidth version my old method seems to have stopped working...so, after playing around for a little while i have found another way :-)....

1. Go to the normal BBC iplayer page and click on a program that you want to watch.

2. At the bottom left of the playing screen there are 3 buttons, the first being the volume one, if you click the middle button it opens the program you wish to watch in a 'player console'....this plays smoothly and after a little stutter at the begining, plays perfectly....you can also click the 'full screen' button...again, perfect

3. Enjoy :-)

A great guide with pictures from Jaymontana :-

1. Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bigscreen/ (it's the wii version)

2. At the bottom of the page toggle between 'lower bandwidth option' and 'use normal version' until 'lower bandwidth option' shows.

3. Click TV then choose a Channel then a Program

4. Click Play then the Full Screen button at the bottom right of the TV picture.

That's exactly what i do and it works for me. It stutters a little at the beginning and every now and again as it plays but it is very watchable and the speech is in sync.

I should add that i'm on my home wifi network, and as a noobish i have a fairly 'clean' N900 ;-)....

have a go if you're in the uk, nothing to install and 'don't cost nuthin'...
Thaks for the tip works really well

Yep. Followed the instructions above, but first time I played full screen, very stuttery and not sync'd, but I minimised it, and it played minimised then clicked full screen and it was sync'd and smooth.

Nice one.

You could hide behind a UK proxy in the same way that you can watch iplayer from outside the UK on a pc. Plenty of guides on Google.

Great find Dan
