Code:
perl -pi -e 's/\x79\x79\x4d\x4d\x00\x00\x00/\x64\x64\x4d\x4d\x79\x79\x5f/g' /usr/lib/libqcamera.so.1.0.0
After executing the command in terminal I receive a response stating that

Code:
Can't remove /usr/lib/libqcamera.so.1.0.0. Permission denied, skipping the file
Run command as a user and root, to no avail. Please advise.

Just curious. Why do you want to change it ?

You get a custom format instead of it sorting just by YYMM the date parameter is added.

The naming had to be changed because some devices (apple ipad is one of them) did not recognize N9 as having photos.

Seems there is a standard somewhere that mandates files underneath DCIM to be 8 characters long (+ 3 for extension).

I agree it's not nice and I personally have a mess of old and new file names. Might have been a good idea o make it configurable though :|

I had to patch the library (libqcamera.so.1.0.0) on the desktop and than use ssh to transfer modified library to /usr/lib/ folder on the phone. Unfortunately, after reboot camera didn't even start so I had to revert to the previous version of library file. Now it works again but still I'm struggling to bring image naming under my control. I'd be grateful for any help or a hint.

You can use N9QT or if you want to do this manually, after transferring your file back, run refhashlist.pl
