Turn your tablet into a digital TV receiver lookalike.

Using VideoCenter, using the attached playlist, with a little of tweaking, you turn your tablet into a TV lookalike.

These are the URLs I have in my Video Center databases. Everytime I moved from a tablet to another, or change the MMC cards, i end up have to reenter all the URLs manually, one by one. Is there a better way to copy these URLs? TIA,

Edit: Now you dont have to manually enter those URLs, just dl the attached primary3.rar.zip at the end of this post, and follow the instructions, you would have 72 TV channels, mostly USA, in your tablet. Enjoy,

bun

Edit: 5/3/08 new version, 72 TV channels for VideoCenter. The VC URLs.txt is a list of the URLs, same as you see on this post. You can add this into your VC by manually type it in. Or, bunanson has done the typing for you,

1) dl the primary.db.zip.deb into your PC, NOT your tablet, and it is NOT a deb file
2) on the PC, rename the file as primary.db.zip
3) expand the primary.db.zip into primary.db and myvideos.db on your PC. I use winzip., now you have primary.db and myvideos.db on the PC
you can "shared folder" copy to your mmc card, say /media/mmc1/primary.db, under xterm
ls -l primary.db 1352704. If the length is not right, please re-download again
4) copy the primary.db and myvideos.db back to your tablet and replace the /home/user/videocenter/primary.db and myvideos.db with these. WARNING: your own VC channel will be all gone! pls back up first. I use emelFM2. Or using example on step 4)
xterm
cp /media/mmc1/primary.db /home/user/videocenter
cp /media/mmc1/myvideos.db /home/user/myvideos.db
5) now enjoy 72 channels TVs on your VC.

Or, if you have zip function installed on your tablet, you could dl the primary.db.zip file to the tablet and unzip it directly and then replace your primary.db and myvideos.db with these. I have NOT tried this method.

Or, somehow replace your /home/user/videocenter/primary.db and myvideos.db with these will get you all the TV channels. Again, when you do this, you will lose all your own internet videos, so back up if you need it.

Or, you can browse it with sqlitebrowser and add it to your existing primary.db

why all this trouble? There is a limitation on file upload and this primary.db file is 1.3 Mb

More info on another thread, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...736#post177736

And more of your TV viewing pleasure here, they are not duplicates and are of different contents, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19044

Edit: 6/6/08
I have upload a new copy of primary3.rar.zip which included many new stations, and ComedyCentral by popular demand. Those do not stream well are gone now. Only either stream well or dl copy render well stays. All Xvid-small have to use mplayer and they render so well that you start to wonder is this really streaming.

To get it into your Video Center:
1) dl primary3.db.zip
2) extract to primary.db and myvideos.db; I use WinRAR
3) backup YOUR own primary.db ***** You going to write over your own primary.db!!! If you do not care, you DO NOT have to backup
4) copy primary.db and myvideos.db into your tablet /home/user/videocenter

assume using default folder:
transfer to /home/user/MyDocs/.documents
xterm
cp /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/primary.db /home/user/videocenter
cp /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/myvideos.db /home/user/videocenter
voila, you are done.

Edit: 7/8/8: Just unzip the zip file into primary.db and myvideos.db and use emelfm2 file manager to replace the two files in path
/home/user/videocenter. and that is it.

Note: VC URLs.txt is really old. Dont bother with it. primary.db.zip.deb was version 1, outdated by now. Primary3.db.zip is the most recent copy.

Some screenshots. These are actual video shots, not still pics. Clarity has been decreased to fit forum posting.

iirc videocenter stores its URLs in a SQLite database file in MyDocs.

When I fix my N810 I'll try and find it for you, you can then backup and restore it whenever [though I thought backup/restore did that anyway?]

@yabbas: Thanks for the info. That is a big help! It took over 15 min of careful typing to get those URLs into the tablet. Copying from a database file will be extremely helpful.

BTW, I just left my MMC at home and would like to play with the VideoCenter while I am now in my office, those URLs are soooooooooooo handy and timely. I deserved a pat on my back, ha!

[French] France 24
mms://live.france24.com/france24_fr.wsx

[German] NDR Fernsehen

Those are streaming web contents. They do not work with video center and they do not need video center either. They works ok with media player, clear, watchable.
media player>Library>Clip>Add media bookmark...

Name: CCTV-4
Web address: mms://72.166.136.132/cctv4-200
Type: Video stream

Thanks for the mms source. I enjoy them.
