Is there any application or widget to turn off the display, instead of using manual button?

Not sure what you are expecting, but you can have a DCEW script.

Put the following command into desktop command execution widget or a QBW

dbus-send --system --type=method_call --dest=com.nokia.mce /com/nokia/mce/request com.nokia.mce.request.req_tklock_mode_change string:"locked" | echo ""

Then just tap the widget to lock the screen

It worked great

Only problem is, taht the display does not go on even if I disconnect the battery.

The screen stays black. Please tell how to restore it?
