i having exactly the same problem of an user that explained it in 2007... :
"I am having trouble playing wav files with media player. I have two services that email me voicemail msgs as an attachment. They both use wav files. I get my email, download the attachment and media player plays it. However, with my work system, which supposedly also uses wav files, I get an error message saying "file format not supported". Anyone have any clues on how to play these files?I've tried opening them directly into media player and also saving them first. All my desktop software programs ply these files just fine. Why can't media player?"
