Ok, so I just got a new Nokia 810. I'm new to all this stuff, so give me the low-down - what should I get, what should I install, what should I tweek, etc.

Looking to read ebooks, listen to music, watch movies, I need an office package (word clone, spreadsheet, etc.), email, basic web browsing, etc. Also any cool free games worth looking at, though that's low priority.

I also need a good PDF reader if whatever ebook reader you guys recommend doesn't work well with them.

Hey, someone mentioned that you can use abiword for word files without going the debian route - anyone know anything about this and where I can get it?

Yeah, Abiword is pretty good.

You should find it easily from the Application Manager catalogue.

Evince is great for Ebooks.

cbr pager for comic books.

Kchmviewer mostly for medical books.

Scumm or Rubybox for games.

Welcome to the forums here.

Quick reply...
You can get Abiword for Diable here, from Extras-devel.
http://maemo.org/packages/view/abiword/
Edit: as far as I know, Abiword is not available from Extras. Installing AbiWord on n810.

A good PDF reader comes installed on your tablet.

http://maemo.qzx.com
- you should install cssu and diablo turbo
- you should boot from flash card so you can recover your data when the tablet will no longer boot from your primary filesystem

I installed CSSU but it won't let me install the update.
