is there a way to query this via script?

i tried searching but mostly found instructions for locking / unlocking the phone.

what i need is a way to check whether the phone is locked or unlocked.



[edit]also, a way to check if the screen is turned on or off?

i don't want to use a dbus watcher script if possible...
