RFID Guardian started as a research project by Melanie Rieback from VU Amsterdam. Its goal was to create a 'RFID firewall'. After much research, prototype boards, and you name it several people have joined the project leading the project into:

The namesake of our project is the RFID Guardian: a mobile battery-powered device that offers personal RFID security and privacy management. One the focuses of our project is to build an RFID Guardian prototype.

Our group also performed the first-ever research on RFID Malware.

Also, Do you want to beta-test a copy of our RFID Guardian HW? If so, please add yourself to the mailing list of people we will notify when we start to mass-produce and distribute the HW, or send us an email at info@rfidguardian.org.

The hardware is open source.

They're working on interfaces to speak to the Guardian, and Symbian S60 is one of them. However, an interface for Maemo might be interesting.

Interested? The website is rfidguardian.org.
