But it say BT 2.1 on N9 and on the spec of this keyboard some of them are 2.0 and 2.1

I'm sure if we got root access, some fancy footwork by all the wonderful dev's could fix the BT stack problems and we could use something like this.
But it's not worth the effort to waste all that battery power running a keyboard via BT.

I just bought a little "candybar" keyboard (from NCIX, on sale) and it works great with my N800, but it is terrible with the N900.

I think there will be the usual great deal of hackery to get external keyboards working with the N9, and even then, they'll have lots of problems.

http://www.boxwave.com/

That's the official website. (The one you show on the picture is a clone of the official boxwave )

Maybe we can ask those people to make a special N9 version?

If there is a lot of attention (like mailing them, making a petetion etc.) from our side, I'm pretty sure they will make a batch of N9 keyboards

Edit: I contacted Boxwave about this, waiting for a reply

A petition would be very nice,i feel we are a dedicated group of users who should unite and voice our opinions on all those half-baked conceptions nokia delivers.
If Nokia can't,other company's might smell the box that could be made off of us.

Perhaps someone could also initiate one in the direction of nokia.

To finally open their eyes and focus on this treasure (n900) they have built and use it as a solid base for further development. Instead of drowning in the iphone copycat race like all the others manufacturers and wondering why they fail and totally lost their former number 1 status.

Nokia,innovate to compete!

Key us intouch with the resuls.

Me I did the same asking :

Hi, does this product only work for Iphone. I would like to know the spec
for the bluethoot if it would work on a device that is Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR
(Enhanced Data Rate).

response

Hi,

1. It 100% fits iphone4, I'm afraid that other devices couldn't fit in it.
2. Yes, it works.

I could live with something like this for the N9.

qole, can you please tell me what doesn't work on that keyboard with the n900? I was planning to buy that same model (actually very similar) for the N9.

Even if they build a keyboard for the N9, we'll have to forget using the camera when the keyboard is mounted. The camera of the iPhone is at the corner, so that the keyboard does not cover it (a hole can be made because the keyboard is smaller than the iPhone, see this: http://www.boxwave.com/images_bw/pro...rd_main_lg.jpg). In contrast, the camera of the N9 is at the center (see this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sk09q2wYEX...ictures_23.jpg), so that the keyboard will definitely cover it, no hole possible. :/

That's not a problem for me, I almost never use the camera of my phones (and I think I will stick with my N900 rather than purchasing a N9, for many reasons), but it could be a big one for many people.

That would be the advantage of a wallet/carrying case with keyboard. You could easily remove the N9 and take a picture if desired.
