Go to Tools -> Settings -> General

and disable Javascript.

Probably the easiest hack ever posted at ITT.

Sure, some websites will not work anymore. But most will. Including ITT.

Try it out, it really makes a difference.

sadly, a updated render engine would have fixed the problem...

What I had before changes, then after changes WIFI, (BTW - I have a 5MB to 6MB DSL connection)...

This would be useful if the browser would have an Opera-style "site preferences" feature where you could disable javascript globally and then enable it on a per-site basis for "critical" pages that require it... Same would go for flash, gif animations, popups, etc.

...or it shows a way to disable/enable it with an icon in one of the various app launcher programs out there.

Low bandwidth = disable

Big pipe = Let 'er rip
