I see a lot of complaints regarding the n900 having only 2 profiles. An idea occurred to me: there's a profile API. It doesn't allow creating a new one, but it does seem to allow editing of the existing ones. So what's to stop an app from editing the standard profile (assuming it's changeable, which i hope) anyway we like it? The app could have several 'virtual' profiles stored, and when requested, edit "standard" to fit our choice
I would test the idea myself, but not only do i not have a device, but also i can't seem to get scratchbox working. Sorry, i'll try to put something together later on. For now i'd like opinions on whether that's feasible

A good idea, but still a new profile app that can creat user profiles would be great.

I like the idea - and also the ability to have several profiles, especially where you can set the active times thnx.

You could perhaps hide the default profile plugin by modifying /etc/hildon-desktop/status-menu.plugins and show one that knows about custom profiles. So it would *look* as though there were multiple profiles.

It seems the SDK does not have libprofile, and maybe it's just me, but i can't install anything in it.
Any idea how to try this program before getting the device?
