Well, since the post didn't get deleted anyways, I'd ask...

I remember a few reflashes ago I was able to turn off the keyboard "helper" bar which pops in in the bottom of the screen when you're in the editable field on N810. But I don't remember where did I read the instructions or how to achieve that -- any pointers?

PS. Browsed thru wiki -- didn't see it there.

Used gconftool, maybe? On an N800, I have to occasionally "remind" it that the slide is not open (although it doesn't have a slide) to make that disappear. (I think Alt-space or something (on a BT keyboard) brings it up.)

Just go to the control panel, then to "Text Input Settings"

Select the languages tab, then the settings button.

Deselect Word completion, and Next Word Prediction.

Voici!

Thanks! Just deselecting Next Word Prediction did the trick for me, was not necessary to deselect word completion. But I've also had disabled "Enable stylus input methods" as well.

Alis -- thank you, was aware of space-shift, but it would only hide that extra bar once, next window/time I'm in the text field it would pop up again.

Ah, was looking for how to turn that bar off.
I have the internet search bar at the bottom of my desktop and have had to press shift-space every time i type there.
Thanks.
