Hi when i attempt to download tar-gnu for the n9 I'm facing issues.

For example, doing apt-get install tar-gnu gives package not found.

On the other hand doing apt-cache search tar lists all the packages available since most of them have "tar" in them.

So my question is how do i download/install only tar-gnu? Does someone here have a copy of it or does someone know the version of it so i can do a direct apt-get install tar_vXX

Yes, I know we can package via other methods (e.g. ubuntu PC; done it) but I want to try doing it on the n9...

Thanks in advance.

Edit: The reason i need tar-gnu is following on from the DEB packaging thread it mentions the need for tar-gnu.

Also when i simply did:

Code:
dpkg-deb -b /home/user/FILES_PACKAGE

I got the following:

Code:
tar: unrecognized option '--format=gnu'
BusyBox v1.20.0.git (MeeGo 3:1.20-0.2+0m8) multi-call binary.

Usage: tar -[cxtzjhmvO] [-X FILE] [-T FILE] [-f TARFILE] [-C DIR] [FILE]...

dpkg-deb: subprocess tar -cf returned error exit status 1

SOLVED: I had to install gnu-tar instead...
