A friend has Win 10, and, in my opinion, if I was a Windows-only user, I would rate it 8/10. But of course, I'm a Linux user now, and would scarce think to use Win 10 as my OS of choice.

In short, I think MS has done a relatively good job for their ecosystem.

Virtual desktops comes too late, but again, at least it's finally there for Windows users

That said, I will not be using it anywhere on my own computers, but if my company uses it in future...

Mozilla's ceo had somethings to say about win 10

I'm still reading it myself...

Yeah, Microsoft is well on the way back to bundling their browser into their operating system. So Mozilla has to be worried. The funny thing is, Chris Beard says in his open letter:

These changes aren’t unsettling to us because we’re the organization that makes Firefox. They are unsettling because there are millions of users who love Windows and who are having their choices ignored, and because of the increased complexity put into everyone’s way if and when they choose to make a choice different than what Microsoft prefers.
Of course, what he means is that these changes are unsettling to them because they're the organization that makes Firefox.

Microsoft announced Friday that Windows 10 had been downloaded 14 million times in two days

Translation: That's 14 million users who were eager to ditch Windows 8!

hm...yeah...Firefox and other browsers wouldn't be exactly ecstatic about MS direction with 10...
I do get why they are doing what they are doing..
on the surface ..trying to do seamless integration of all services, ease of use, less confusing for people, etc...
below the surface it ain't so pretty though.
Just as there are different types of linux for different levels of savvy user...
perhaps that is the direction MS should go in ...offer a variety of flavours from beginner to knowledgable ...instead of trying for a universal system like 10 ...that is going to irritate and frustrate everyone equally ...
they did an admirable job on xp tablet edition [once the bugs were worked out] . It and win 7 are still pretty impressive for the onscreen penabled graphic work I do...love it. But personally couldn't stand 8...it's touchscreen interface really felt like it was meant for thick-fingered poking..simplistic interface meant for finger-painting...it wasn't a good interface for my work...it was an honest attempt at integrating touch...but for me..for my graphic work it didn't work well...

It seems to me Microsoft is really doing an effort in making Windows 10 the last Windows version, as they promised

This seems to be a good synopsis of the overriding issues concerning win10
http://www.theguardian.com/technolog...fault-settings

But this here...
holy guacamole!
this is new...
http://lauren.vortex.com/archive/001116.html

I happily use xp[tablet edition] and win7 daily in my work and I think I'll just keep it at that for the foreseeable future until they have reined in this runaway train. Give it a bit...maybe a few months ..maybe a few years ...after they get everything sorted out...and windows 10 may be a great choice then...
Hehe...I remember back when xp and then when win 7 came out ...
I vowed I'd never run them...given time they improved ...
improved so much I couldn't resist them ...
darn handy for a great deal of my work
I do hope they turn things around...because now my issues aren't with learning a new platform as much as privacy, and what I'm allowing MS to control , manipulate or dictate in my life if I use the new product at this time.

Yikes! Maybe Microsoft has spent so much time having to deal with hackers creating Zombie PCs that they've decided they want to start doing it themselves...
