i need a program can replace button usage on n900
or a instructions in Xterminal can do this

i won't the power button to be the unlock button



and the unlock button to be the power button



because when i connect the AUX on the radio in the car and driving it's hard to unlock screen while driving every time and more easy with replaced button ( just tried that in android it's easy while driving and easy with portrait mode )

press power button twice it will unlock the device

or you can download power lock from app manager and then you press power button once and device is unlocked

also you can lock by pressing once after installing it

if you want a shorcut to lock the device here is a way to create a shortcut on your desktop to lock the screen (or in the menu)

go to app manager and install scm (shortcut maker)(thanks to tiboric)

its name is scm yes "scm" only don't confuse
now open shortcut maker(you have just installed)

tap to CMD and give a name to your shortcut
(don't check box "run in xterm")
and put this in command box (better to copy the code and paste it)

and prees create...

now there should be a new icon in the menu to lock Ur screen

now go to desktop > settings > add your shortcut DONE........ !

Thank you for your informative post. I just want to point out that pressing the power button twice can lock the device but it can't unlock the device.
