Hey Community!

I really want a new phone that has the meebo/meego OS with the performance of an Android Phone (e.g. Dual 1 ghz). I don't like the idea of googles android.

The N900 is really good but the performance is'nt as good as the new phones today. The battery power is just terribly, the phone is really heavy if you overclock it is unstable and reboots randomly sometimes, no portrait mode, plasticbomb. etc.

I don't want an phone with the android OS because you will have to pay with your privacy and it isnt 100% open source and many great apps that are one to n900 are not on the android e.g. MyPaint, Terminal, aircrack-ng, etc.

The maemo/meego OS has much more potential then the android and I will never buy a android and not even talking about the cheap windows OS.

I personaly don't need the qwerty-keyboard, I can get used to a onscreen keyboard, it would make the phone smaller (less wieght) and more handy.

Will we ever see a phone with the performance of an android phone with an linux OS? A dualboot port to maemo/meego would'nt be the same, it would slower the phone down and you would'nt be able to get to full potential out of it, sadly.

I NEED a new phone but the phones at the moment are just terrible.
Are there any upcoming phones that will have a linux distribution and a good processor/RAM?

agree with you, but n900 on overclocking is stable and with new battery patches and other things battery is not that terrible, it is quite ok + portrait mode works with CSSU. Yes after using n900, and installing nitdroid on it, I don't think even I am interested in android anymore.
Solution to your problem and(mine) is cordia-tab(smoku is working on it) which would be meego based with maemo UI top on it. It doesn't have physical keyboard and it would be completely open sourced. go to cordia website and sign petition

There were rumors that LG would release Meego smartphones. However, that was in April/May and I didn't hear anything about that recently.

Only Android phones are in need of dual core today because Android is an awfully slow OS. The N9 shows how smooth a single core device can be with Linux, and it's amazing.

The N9 is only a single-core 1ghz, almost the same processor as the n900. It also has no SD-Card Slot. The outsite of the N9 is only cheap Polycarbonat.

Nokia said it will be the only phone with MeeGo.
They will bring out apps like Angry Birds, Facebook, Twitter etc.
but that's it.

Nokia will stick to Windows 7 OS now. So the support will be the same as meebo...really dissapointing.

@razefox,

OK. Just sounds weird. Meego is AFAIK more or less a "base" operating system, where manufactures are expected to provide the user experience and all.

So porting Meego to Android would be more like replacing Android with Meego, which would leave no room for Android (a hostile takeover, so to speak
