Today I uploaded a new version of MRAWViewer to extras-devel.
Main changes over latest stable version in extras are:

  • Added banners to inform user about what's going on when in fullscreen
  • Previous / next image arrow buttons are real overlaid widgets now
  • Image generated on-the-fly from RAW file when unable to decode embedded thumbnail
  • Added ability to open supported RAW files with mrawviewer directly from the file manager
  • Fixed bug #5419
  • New image details management

If no major issue will come up, I'll promote it to testing in a few days, so please let me know!

Thanks zaoltryence!

Yes, MRAWViewer benefits greatly from overclocking !
The slowness with FCamera's DNGs is due to the fact that they don't have an embedded thumbnail, so MRAWViewer must process RAW data and produce one by itself.

donaggio, great to hear that you're supporting FCam DNGs.

However, in the latest version of FCam/Fcamera, we do embed a thumbnail in the DNG - it should be in IFD0 as a straight RGB24 image (640x480), no compression. Are you looking for it somewhere else?

Thanks!

Well, not really - I'm using an external library to extract the thumbnail and do the RAW processing : libraw from www.libraw.org.
It detects the presence of a thumbnail in FCamera DNGs, but isn't able to unpack it; from libraw's documentation, it seems it can manipulate thumbnails in JPEG format and plain RGB (each pixel represented by an 8-bit triplet) only.

Strange, our thumbnails are just plain RGB, so they should work in theory. I'll put that on our list of things to investigate.

Thank you!

In the meantime I'll get in touch with LibRaw developers handing them a sample from FCamera and see if they can help.
