I was just browsing over on Meego.com and noticed that the Meego v 1.0 release happened today http://meego.com/downloads and I had some questions about it.

Has anyone tried this new image out? Will it ever be possible to run the Meego netbook UX on the N900?

The netbook mix is specially compiled for X86 processors so it will not work with the N900 if not modified.

The resolution of the screen of the N900 would not result any problems but the UI is designed to be used with a mouse. I would like an UI to be used more efficiently.

I believe IF there will be MeeGo for N900, the User Interface/theme will be similiar to the one you saw. Just donīt get your hopes up too much about that...

Is it possible to install Meego Netbook UX on a VM or VirtualBox? Any link to the instructions?

I think it should boot in VirtualBox although it seems impossible to download the image, as the connection resets every few minutes and there are no direct downloads but only this stupid HTTP-Post form...

Actually, MeeGo is quite decent.

I wonder how the handheld UI will look like.

Finally I have managed to run Meego on my Lenovo Ideapad Y450 48196 LU model.

Intel Dual core processor. Installation is straight forward.

I used the link below -

http://meego.com/devices/netbook/ins...o-your-netbook

The instructions are nicely put up. I used my Pen drive of 2GB and Voila I am now able to boot Meego through it. Folks looking to try Meego will not be disappointed at all. This is the first release and It worked superbly out of the box. I have read some connectivity issues with Broadcom's WiFi driver but no such issues with my Broadcom WiFi driver. I am now going to figure out how to Dual Boot Meego with Windows 7 although it did gave me three options when I first booted Meego through USB drive. Second option was Installation Only. Need to explore a bit

I am impressed to be honest.

Good work Nokia and Intel. Way to go.

Thanks!

PS : Posted through the Google Chrome Browser of Meego A couple of Screen shots below -

A little bug, the screenshot app seems to be laggy in taking screenshots!

I installed the netbook version and not the N900 one.
