mhm... this is probably covered elsewhere, but i only found questions about this regarding mfe:

i think (!) that since pr 1.2 all invitations i receive per mail (pop3/imap) have a cute calendar symbol, so modest knows they're not normal mails. problem: there's no way to interact with the thing. no accept, decline, save to calendar etc..... what's the point of showing the calendar icon then?

is this the way it's supposed to be? or am i missing the obvious?

Hey Benny, did you find out about this?

Or @anyone: I've stumbled upon the same issue. Anyone knows more about this?

Whoohoo! I found a way to add my incoming (by mail) .ics appointments to the N900 calendar! Not too efficient, but it beats typing by hand. This is what I do when I receive an event via mail:

1. open the email
2. 'save attachments' > save the event (anywhere, p.e. in documents)
3. exit mailapp and open a file browser, go to the folder in which the event is
4. open the file and watch the magic
5. choose in which calendar to add the event
6. hit save
7. see the saved-attachment-from-an-email transformed to a real event in your calendar

Hooray.
O.k., it is a bit of a workaround, but it ends my frustration of seeing the event being recognized in an email and not being able to put it in my calendar.

If anyone has a more efficient way, I'd still love to hear about it

hmm, it should be a matter of a simple mime type registration then.

With a MfE account, I have, and have always had, the option to accept, tentative, decline a meeting invitation.

I haven't tried with a pop3 or imap account.

As root
Code:
vi /usr/share/applications/hildon/calendar.desktop
edit the line that says
Code:
text/x-ical
to
Code:
text/x-ical;text/calendar
