hi all, my cell started showing some strange kind of screen flickering, its not the whole screen but some portions at a time, I made a video to make things fully clear, here it is.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0rmm6Rznws

Can you please tell me whats happening, I havent gone to any repair guys yet, i wanted to show it on this forum and get some feedback first.

ps: can a youtube video be posted such that it plays inline here at tmo instead of clicking and opening a new tab to play YT vids?

standard help desk phrase: did you reboot already?

I do have this phenomenon on my JollaC when scrolling the browser window content

But iirc this may have to do with fragmented swap or similar. You should find something here on TMO.

If a normal reboot does not help, please do:
shutdown
pull off battery
wait for 30 seconds (you may push power button for 3 seconds)
push in battery
startup

Peter is dead on the money...
Could just need a reboot to freshen things and clear the cobwebs...
Or it is a swap issue...

The rendering is very specific ..
I watched your video repeatedly...and the screen behaviour is exactly the same every time you did an action.

Failing success in fixing things with his two options...
I would be buying another n900 ..(as long as it is either in good condition ....and save your current model for future parts.....or buy an n900 in rougher condition to use it for parts for your current n900...
and take the screen out and replace it with the recently purchased parts n900...)
Buying a 2nd n900 and (depending on the state of the device)
and either saving your current model as a future spare part beast...or immediately cannibalizing one for the other...
Is much cheaper and gets more bang for your buck if (at worst) you have to change out the screen.

There are plenty of vids of folks who show changing the screen ...
Much much cheaper than taking it to a shop...
Not to mention...who the hell even knows how to work on a n900 anymore....
You are likely to get a repair person who has never even seen one before...
It is a decade old now ...since the n900 was initially released.

If necessary...I would rather swap out the screen myself than hand it to someone who has no clue....and wants to charge me ...on top of that....

Glad you didn't have to hunt down another n900 or a replacement screen off ebay or elsewhere...and do your own replacement.

Very glad you didn't take it to a shop, pay a stupid amount to people that would know nothing about n900's (nowadays)
