hi

When i have missed calls, the only way of knowing is going into calls. Is there a option to put a message on the desktop about missed calls?

thanks

Scott

It does notify. I believe it's hidden under the upper left button. and you should see the icon changes to a double window instead of a grid.

Atleast that's where I see missed call alerts.

Thanks. I wonder if there is a way to get a bigger, more obvious warning option?

Isn't the constant annoying blinking of the blue led obvious enough?

the blue double window in th upper left corner is displayed when there are running applications in the dashboard. This icon turns white when there is something on the dashboard needs attention but rather than just notifying of missed calls it alerts you to incoming IM, email, sms etc.

tweaking led patterns is magical. you know in a couple seconds if someone has called, sent sms or im etc. and you know exactly what has happened from the colour of the light.

I have: cyan - email
red - calls
blue - sms
purple -im

disclaimer: it might break your device. but one has always to think about risk&reward with these things.

I have the same LED config and also changed the behavior of them that the sequence is faster. I also set the vibrator speed of SMS to 255 that provides more power.
For a better recognition I changed the Icon in the uper left to a more significant color.

here here!!!

While I love my N900 and seeing what other people have done to customise their phones, I find it really frustrating trying to search these forum finding out how to make these changes my self, and no!! the wiki pages dont help..

.. I would love to see a section/web site dedicated to hacking the n900's UI so us n00bs can learns about these changes and not just stumble upon them in these posts.

Just editing the theme which is located here:
/usr/share/themes/beta/images (beta is the orange one and alpha the blue one)

For the LED and vibration pattern edit the MCE.ini located here:
/etc/mce

How to do that is well explaned many times in this forum, so I give you links to threads where you should find everything relevant to do this.

Acess your N900:
