Oh then maybe use a livecd or wubi to get the job done...

Edit: If you google it you should be able to get the usb detected in the VM...Its relatively simple...If you feel it uncomfortable however, just use a livecd or best solution is to use wubi...

well i got working on my dads laptop i am at the

$ sudo flasher --load -k vmlinuz-2.6.32.20112201-11.2-adaptation-n950-bootloader -n initrd.img-rescue-2.6.32.20112201-11.2-n950 --boot

4. Insert the usb cable. part

All done now my N9 is displaying a Warning message saying i have modified it.

but this part is not working :
5. Wait about minute until a new USB mass storage device appears on the host.

You should now have three partitions: /dev/sdX1 with is MyDocs, /dev/sdX2
which is MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan rootfs, and /dev/sdX3 which is the MeeGo 1.2
Harmattan home directory.

Ok after the warning message you need to wait for some time for it to be detected as removable media...it can take 2-3 mins for the detection...also are using ubuntu or?

Edit: Don't progress to the next step just let me know once its detected as removable media...you should have three drives; rootfs, userfs, Nokia N9
