You do not need to change any parameter under advanced settings BUT:
KeepAlive Mechanism to Registered
and maybe KeepAliveInterval to any fixed value (needed that once but not anymore ).
Then linphone.org will work.

Oh, and this hint is courtesy of sicelo.
Wow thanks. A few months ago I tried linphone and I think I had the exact same issue. In the end I settled for sipgate.de, which also works nicely with the fritzbox (I'm almost becoming German .

anyway i dont know what it is called but you can find it in all symbians some androids i.e traditional cellular video calls where no voip sip is needed as its a service provided by the operators ;
Video (also called multimedia call) on 3G aka UMTS networks only, using a circuit switched data connection, similar to ISDN User Part (ISUP).
Nokia did not support this on Nokia N900 or N9.
See.

I am very happy now, I think can make video calls now with any service available. All operators in my country has become 3G and some 4G.

Why did skype stop working with video? I dont often use it, but last time I did it worked with video/webcam.

I know you found a solution, great.

But:
Pidgin should work with video.

Okay, I got two SIPs at this moment: one LinPhone (use for telephone numbers disabled), another PennyTel (use for telephone numbers enabled).

One complaint: when I go to Phone, and try to SIP-call a phone number, it offers me to choose between the two SIP accounts (even though only one of them has "use for telephone numbers" enabled). Address Book seems to have no such problem.

Second question: how do I do an SIP video call? Can I do an SIP video call to a mobile telephone number (yes, I enabled Video Calls for PennySIM, but I am not sure whether PennyTel can handle SIP-video-call)? /Okay, I will probably test it by trying an SIP video call from myself to myself - from PennyTel to LinPhone or from LinPhone to PennyTel - two options, yay!/

Thank you,
Best wishes.

Just an update to note for anyone arriving here,
this was the best advice:

Register
(I used two minute KeepAliveInterval)

nothing else special - using a sip.linphone.org account

cheers.
