The only pitfall I've seen is that "Tab" needs to be capitalized, "tab" will not work as a keyword. Otherwise it's just a matter of editing a text file properly, way easier than modifying a Windows keyboard layout ! Make a backup of the original first and you're set...
The only drag is having to reboot to test your modifications. This being Linux, I'm pretty sure there must be a command that can be run in xterm to update the layout, rebooting is just a lazy cheat :-)
