Well i am not an expert but i would suggest.
Try to use different wifi
also
install or try a different web browser. I.e opera,firefox,etc.

many wi-fi hotspots want you to register with a specific URL; for a hotspot called somehotspot, an URL like http://somehotspot.com (or whatever your country domain is) often does the trick
if it doesn't, install Personal IP Address and try http://{your IP address}/
(Personal IP Address is a widget, so you need to add it to your desktop to see it)

Try open x-terminal and enter:
(Maybe you should enter "sudo gainroot" before).
If first works ok, but second doesn't, something with dnsmasq settings.
Code:
ping 8.8.8.8 ping google.com

People forget using different browser and all.
I cant even ping a public dns from the xterminal !
And regarding visiting a portal to get connected - if thats the case i would need to the same when i connect from my laptop and other phones as well correct ! ?
I am able to connect to that access point from other mobile and laptop easily and use it without any problem

You might want to check the kernel messages when your wifi stops working. You can do that with the "dmesg" command in xterm.
If it says something about "beacon loss" and "sending hi signal, sending low signal" you might be able to fix it whit disabling the power saving feature on that connection (settings, internet connections, connections, your WLAN)

route
and see if it gives any output,
then try pinging something in the local subnet (even your laptop, when also connected to the same node - but make sure your laptop will answer to ping....

you need to enter the IP seetings manually.Then it will work.Mine does the same always.As you have the sttings from laptop,its easy.After that there is no need each time you connect.
