Hi all!

Has anyone tried out a 64GB microSD(HC) memorycard in a N900?

Will it function?

Is there such thing? I thought the largest memory on a microSD card is 32GB!

You are competely right. I mistook an announcement for availablity ..

But then: what is - theoretically - the 'usable' limit of the micro SD slot on a N900?

Theoretically it must be 32GB if there is only a 32GB card available. It's one of those questions such as "When one enters Heaven do the angels dish out Nokia N900's to everyone or iPhones?"

I know somebody has soldered/made an adaptor and fitted a 64GB SD not microSD card in there's
This is something i have been thinking of doing for some time, but don't have the time or funding to buy a 64GB or larger SD card.

I discovered that in the DUAL battery mod with all battery's except the SCUD's there is enough space for a striped down (plastic casing off) SD card, only thing to do is to make an adaptor or be hardcore and solder it directly to the microSD in the N900.

I saw that lexar has put out a 128GB SD card, think about having a N900 with:
32GB internal capacity
128GB extra capacity
for a whooping 160GB (- system)

Dr Frost,
If you can find an old 64MB microSD that come with so many older phones it should be no biggie with your surface mount skills to split it open make an adapter with some ribbon cable. There was a guide for making a very flat SD card port-clip in one of the OLD DD-WRT websites. I suppose the question is if the N900 binary blob microSD card port driver is volume limited like it was with the old Sharp Zaurus SL-5500's.

Yes and have been trying that, not easy, not much space....
When i finally get around to do it, i will probably just solder it on.

Hopefully the user that have tried this will confirm that the N900 will take more then 32GB.
Remember that it was originally posted to only support 16GB because at that time there where no bigger microSD cards then 16GB.
It should support the XC system, and i think the limit on that is 2000GB, don't take my word on it, just something i heard/read at some point.

if it has been stated that n900 ''anything is possible'' will do this as well ..may be fanciful but one should be optimistic ))

The 64GB MicroSD card are available soon:

Anyone know if there is a software limit on the N900 that prevents from using such cards?
