and I suppose, that you don't have any references to such reading material handy?

If you do, I'll be gladly proved wrong. Otherwise, I think we can safely assume, that they're all the same, after all. At least, I have never heard of anything even remotely related to different *front* cameras.

Would be great to have better front camera considering how crappy its on N900
Camera module that used in N900 VS6555 (640x480) http://natisbad.org/N900/ref/VS6555.pdf
Did some research and came across this http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe...CS/VW6754.html VW6754 - 2 megapixel but slightly bigger by .5mm.

..?

Looks like you win, I can't find it anymore..
Or maybe I misread it firmware version or something..
Well anyway I'll just be here with my front camera that people can't even see me

the front camera improved with driver update shipped with a PR1.1 or sth.
Would be awesome to see somebody mounting a better camera instead of VS6555 to the FPC. Anyway Neo900 group won't do that. I don't think a camera module that's significantly higher than the original one can fit into the display case, but even if it could it's still quite a difficult mod to unsolder old VS6555 and solder the new BGA cam module in place and have all the connections right on the correct balls.

I don't think these two questions have been asked:
1. What IMEI numbers will you give to N900s?
2. Will it be possible to fake it with the software?

1. IMEI is a property of the baseband modem (chipset) and gets assigned by the manufacturer of the modem module - we will accept the IMEIs Gemalto assigns to their modules. [edit] ooops, I misread a typo? N900?
2. probably no. Some old modems allowed change of IMEI via firmware flashing or via special secret command. AFAIK contemporary modules/chipsets have IMEI in write-once fuse PROM so it is physically protected against any changes, once it got engraved (literally, see http://neo900.org/news-0005-phase-i-...-ohsw-showcase "351501 05 0134677") into the hardware
