Hi, folks,

I'm sad to do so, but I'm going to sell my one-week-old Nokia N900 for $60. The screen is not working (see below), and the slider mechanism is damaged, but it is cosmetically in good condition and the majority of the parts are in new condition. If you need parts for your N900 or are someone who's good at fixing them and wants a new one, this might be a good deal for you.

Here's a link to a few pictures:
http://picasaweb.google.com/jonathan...eat=directlink

Here's what it comes with, and what works:
  • everything that came in original box, and the box itself
  • sound (speakers and earpiece)
  • networking (cell and wifi)
  • power
  • battery
  • back-case and parts in v.good condition
  • All only one week old, and cosmetically in great shape

Here's what doesn't work:
  • screen (pressure mark in the corner of LCD)
  • slider mechanism (moves, but stiffly; doesn't rest as it should)

Here's what I haven't tested, but am guessing works:
  • camera
  • Bluetooth networking
  • USB file transfer
  • keyboard

I accept PayPal, and will ship Priority (from zip code 27701, USA) at cost to anyone on the list; international shipping, also at cost. Feel free to email me with any questions--jonathandueck@yahoo.com

The back story on this N900: I just bought it new and it arrived at my house last Monday night. I'd just gotten everything set up on it as I liked, and then biked to work today on a new bike. The bike slipped sideways, and I landed on my side; the phone was in my pocket. The slider mechanism was pushed too far in the fall, but besides that the phone has no cosmetic damage--no scratches, dents, breaks in the case, anything. I powered the phone off and on and verified that sound works, networking works (I received phone calls and got email message alerts), and the buttons work. I couldn't get the screen to turn on, nor could I verify that the touch screen itself works; I'm suspecting that a cable connecting the touch screen to the lower part of the unit was pulled or damaged in the collision.

Bottom line: I will list the phone on eBay in a week if no-one from the list indicates interest, but I thought I'd offer it here first, in case anyone needs a very inexpensive, almost-new set of N900 parts, or a phone to fix up.

Best,
Jon

I wonder why you don't try fixing it yourself (you can replace its screen, and maybe the slider too) or call Nokia Care to fix it for you -I guess they'll charge money for it- instead of selling it.
