Is it possible to add socks5 proxy capability and configuration for this browser?

It will be cool if I can pass the proxy settings as a command line option also, like Chrome:

eg:-

google-chrome --proxy-server="socks5://127.0.0.1:6000" --host-resolver-rules="MAP * 0.0.0.0 , EXCLUDE myproxy"

This allows me to add another icon to use when connected to a proxy (ssh).

I will investigate this. Maybe I can add the dialog manually for websites requesting such authentication.

is it possible to change the icon? i don't like it so much
I like it. So it stays.
Of couse you can manually create a new icon and replace the old one if you have developer mode on.

I was running the check that Steve Gibson has put on to verify that a web browser refuses to connect in https if the certificate has been revoked (simply connect to https://revoked.grc.com, and check that you get an error from the browser) and while the default Jolla browser behaves correctly, Webcat doesn't:
This is interesting. Thanks for pointing that out.
Now I am researching on how to make the test work. Hopefully I can come up with a patch.

It'd be nice if the search engines (e.g. Google) used HTTPS in Webcat like how the Gecko based default browser does since that is based on Firefox.

You can use the custom option already to change the search engine and use https here if you like.

Small update on the revoked certificate thing. It isn't implemented in qtwebkit and I don't see currently the need for it as it seems to be broken anyway (see: https://www.imperialviolet.org/2014/...vchecking.html )
Chromium and Chrome don't activate revocation checking because of this too btw.

Ok thanks.
Yeah the cert revocation is a quite complex issue, and so far there is no perfect solution. Weird that currently all major browsers give at least a warning in case of a revoked certifcate, except from Chrome (as Google is still pushing for the CRLset agenda).

Now you can just delete those scrolling arrows because of new Jolla update . CANT FIND LINK i mean http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=150

Your Webcat is much smoother than Jollas own.. that is good and odd.

Good work!

Is it possible to use proxy on Webcat ? ie for proxying using tor (https://openrepos.net/content/nieldk/tor)
Also, perhaps it is possible to add support for .torrent files using transmission by me (https://openrepos.net/content/nieldk/transmission)

Done (in git)

That has todo with underlying qtwebkit changes as it seems. They wanted to improve the mail rendering and as mail rendering also uses webkit its a benefit for webcat aswell.
It comes with a price however. As far as I can see html5 audio&video has been deactivated (it wasn't working anyways with the latest versions)

No this is not supported currently directly in Webcat. You could however set a global proxy manually which should work fine.

Needs investigating first.
I'd rather have a seperate GUI App for this honestly speaking.

I have some issues when using this browser.

When I visit some website, like talk.maemo.org, I just simply enter the words "talk". All browsers that I've used so far, will bring up the "http://talk.maemo.org" as the first "result" from the autocomplete (of course if you have visited the website before)

But webcat shows the topics of tmo instead of the main website link, and also even TOTALLY DIFFERENT website that doesn't even start with "Talk" at the results while typing.
Yes, they maybe have the word "talk" in their link, but wouldn't it be more obvious to have the link shown on top that actually starts with the letters that you're typing?

I rather want to have the "main website" to be shown first...
