You can join all of the iPhone and Android people by;
  1. Installing the MicroB Geolocation addon from Extras.
  2. Login using http://m.gowalla.com

Gowalla is MUCH prettier than foursquare, and actually insists on checking where you are from the GPS before allowing you to "check-in".

It seems to not cache your login (or at least that is what I was seeing).
Also, it looks like it sends login details using only HTTP
Oh, and this has to be the heaviest mobile version of a site EVER

I suppose its worth a look. Barriosquare is making some good progress right now, which would keep me from needing to go to a website.

If gowalla ever exposed a public API I would consider adding that functionality to barriosquare and possibly having a hybrid app which could talk to both foursquare.com and gowalla.

Cool. Any idea when there will be a version of barriosquare in extras-testing?

I emailed tim samoff as he had posted on the mailing list here http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail/mae...er/021836.html

He replied that he had got the developers of Gowalla in touch with Nokia, and they now had an N900, so sounds good for a native app?

The Gowalla API is coming soon. I looked through it the other day and it's awesome! Devs who want to create Gowalla apps will be very happy.

I don't know when the API will be made public, but I do know that it is almost complete.

Tim

Just tried this out and it seems to work. But anyone know how to get MicroB to save my username and password? It doesn't seem to work on m.gowalla.com but does on www.gowalla.com.

Hi guys,

I've been using http://check.in/ for this purpose. It's in beta and supports Foursquare, Gowalla and Brightkite. The site is geared towards iPhone users but It works with N900 browser if you have the MicroB Geolocation addon installed.

Also I am currently working on a Foursquare-app for Maemo 5 called SquareIt. I hope to get something out during April/May. Later on I'm planning to support Gowalla as well.

I'm trying some things on my own with eo-location and it is working fine now thanks to the geolocation-addon by Oleg Romashin. Respect!
Will there be an update, that will also work on Firefox?

As a note on the side: Nokia should have given us this out of the box, with the option to turn it on or off if you ask me. Nokia should be adressing something big to justify the shortcomings towards the n900 community. (where's the late Februari update, and so on)

Anyways, thanks Oleg!

Hey,

well, they released a public API? Still considering to add it?
