it means: redesign the web to display as intended on an iPhone, or the web experienced will just be small or the iphone wont give the true web experienced.

Interesting stats on preventing Myopia:
Singapore have been giving eye examines to the hole population since the 70's where 26% were Myopic - Decade over decade it is getting worse with the myopia effecting 83% of the population by the mid 90's. Looking at the iPhone 4 and most other high DPI phone like the n900 it is going to get worse. Even more so as you start consuming video and other entertainment on these devises.

I don't get this.

This isn't like the desktop where you bump up your screen's dpi while maintaining the UI element's original resolution. iPhone rescales all UI elements to the original rendered sizes and they generally block/avoid 'undersized' elements (ie:text) from being rendered.. except on its browser.

With OP I must agree in principle that the creen is simply too small.
.
Those who seem to regard this as some sort of single-attribute concern
(make the text larger, sell it you never wanted it, etc. ... ad nauseam)
do not seem to understand what is being said here.

The n900 is more than just a phone with an OS tacked onto it,
real web browsing requires more than a postage-stamp sized screen.

We mostly like the phone - first and foremost because of the OS,
but having a bigger screen would have been better.

There are discussions on the web about the direct correlation
between screen real estate and productivity.

There is probably a direct correlation between intelligence and
the screen extent but I can find nothing beyond personal experience:
The bargirl floozies I know seem to love their itsy-bitsy 2inch screens
and have nothing more important on screen than an sms or two
and their latest bf numbers.
Contrast that to business and science community colleagues who love to show up at the bar
with their latest girliepix and stuff on their bigger screen pads where we can actually count pubic hairs
and run sidebar searches on the latest rugby scores.
While I run nmap against their firewalls
and wireshark on their connections while they are plugged into the bar wifi, of course...
