i know there have been alot of guides...ive followed all of them..no luck...so i decided to describe my problem...
ive never connected my n900 to my new laptop (thus no driver was ever installed on the pc- win7 x64 ultimate)
as luck would have it i got the reboot loop...
i can get the phone to connect for flashing (dim nokia screen and usb icon top right corner) but still no suitable device found...
used the parameters for libusb and manually entered them to try to force a connection. (0x0421 - 0x0105 - Nokia N900 (Update Mode))
ive also tried xp virtual...got the same no suitable device...
im running out of options...what next can i try? suggestions?

Sorry mate, zero experience with the OS you're using. But if you're willing to try something outside of the box, why don't you try a Linux liveCD, boot it and flash from within that OS?

Grab a Linux-Live-CD based on Ubuntu or Debian, be sure to use 32-bit, and follow the according procedure http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware . The wiki is down right now, but the procedure is the same, you only need the flasher-3.5 utility for Linux. Here is the debian package from my dropbox http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59165022/mae...5.2.2_i386.deb , if you cannot wait for the wiki to be back.

Tried this???

How to get N900 flasher to work in Windows 7 64-bit (x64).

Install Flasher 3.5 - http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php
Download libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0.zip - http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/
Press U while starting N900 and attach USB
Wait for the original driver to install.
Run inf-wizard.exe (bin folder in zip) - Run as Administrator
Press "Next"
Search in list and select "0x0421 - 0x0105 - Nokia N900 (Update Mode)"
Press "Next"
Press "Next"
Save .inf file
Press "Install Now"
Press "Install this driver software anyway" on warning message.
You should get "Installation successful." and press OK.
Check Windows Device Manager for "libusb-win32 devices", expand and verify "Nokia N900 (Update Mode)" can be found.
Now you are ready to run Flasher 3.5 with your parameters.

Then try with Ubuntu:

Ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso burn and boot from CD.

Else, you could also try to reset any kind of max boot count bug by doing the following:

Try that on a plugged in wall charger or with USB port on PC

- take battery out

- insert USB cable (to boot device with charging boot reason)

- insert battery & put back cover back

- remove USB cable
