RescueOS, that can be used to load in ram and might get your files off => http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=75369

prior to trying I suggest to read all documentation very carefully:
http://206.253.166.96/N900/rescueOS/documentation.txt

Once in RescueOS, I think you need to cd to /RescueOS/
and issue /rescueOS/mass-storage-enable.sh

I never used RescueOS myself yet, so I can't help you on that matter but don't be afraid to post here your problems, if you run into any. Good luck

Well you use the flasher to load RescueOS in RAM, you don't actually flash anything

I would say go for the virtual SDK image, its pre-made and ready for direct usage however I can't find it with current repo-mess/migration. thedead1440, or anyone can help him out with that one?

Also you could use instead of a virtual machine a linuxlivecd (ubuntu) burn it on a usb or CD (use google for that) and boot from usb/CD: Download the flasher .deb -> Install -> Load RescueOS

A tip: Use the sdcard for really valuable data, much more easy to retrieve after device failure. Also if your project data is on MyDocs partition you could reflash rootfs only(so NO eMMC flash (vanilla)), this will keep MyDocs intact.

Yep, I know it was somewhere on skeiron but couldn't find it as it isn't listed from here: http://skeiron.org/tablets-dev/

Its an exact replica of the original tablets-dev so blame Nokia

From the main page you can click on Maemo 5->Command line flasher binaries are available here

or

From the main page click on "Maemo 4.1.2 Diablo kernel patch and new kernel image for USB Networking on Windows, ver 0.4"

Strange navigation but not skeiron's making

it won't go to rd mode even if i hold down "u" button before i plug it on th usb port. any suggestions guys? i've had problem doing this before when i reflashed it.. tried several times before i had success..

is it true that if the flasher is used in linux i dont have to press the "u" key to flash?
